SpendCanary roadmap
Updated 2026-11-07
SpendCanary checks Google Ads accounts for wasted spend and account risks. This page lists what it does today, what we're considering, and what we've decided not to build. Nothing under "considering" has a date; it changes as we learn what helps.
What's live
Free
- A read-only scan of your Google Ads account, as a copy-paste script or with Sign in with Google.
- A report of money leaks in dollars: search partners, Display in Search campaigns, location targeting, text Google writes for you, junk search terms, Maximize Clicks bidding and more.
- Account safety: who has access, new admins, pending invitations and manager links (with Sign in with Google).
- Warnings for broken conversion tracking, ads that stopped showing and the AI Max upgrade, plus your invalid-click rate.
- Where your Performance Max money went, products that spend without selling, and a log of changes made to your account.
- A daily check of one account (with Sign in with Google), with instant alerts for spend spikes, broken tracking and new leaks, and a weekly email.
- Free tools and plain-English guides.
Paid plans
- Everything in Free for up to 3 accounts (Fix) or 10 (Freelancer).
- One-click fixes you approve, each one with undo, and a ledger of money saved.
- A daily spend cap, checked every hour.
- A takeover alarm that checks for signs of someone else in your account, with email and phone alerts.
- Monthly client reports for freelancers.
See what the scan checks, what each plan includes, how the daily spend cap works and how the takeover alarm works.
What we're considering
- Caps per network. Google is starting to let advertisers cap how much of a budget goes to each network. We’ll look at it again once it reaches accounts we can test on, and only build it if every change can be undone.
- More guides by trade. Guides for plumbers, locksmiths and garage door companies are out. We’ll add more trades only if people find them useful.
- A second ad platform. If we add one, Meta (Facebook and Instagram) is the most likely. We haven’t decided, and will look at what users ask for first. What a Facebook ad account should have set up.
What we won't do
- Blocking click fraud with a tag on your website. It means collecting your visitors’ IP addresses, it’s weak against bots that change address, and Google already filters out many invalid clicks before you pay, and credits some it catches later. We show your invalid-click rate instead, and where to look when one campaign’s rate stands out.
- Changing your account without asking. Every fix waits for your approval and can be undone. The one automatic action is the daily spend cap, and only after you set it.
- Selling or reusing your data. We don’t sell it, advertise with it or train AI on it. See the privacy policy.
- Microsoft Ads, App campaigns and Local Services Ads checks, for now. They need separate connections and checks, and so far there’s been little demand for them.
